The REAL Christine O’Donnell…….Crook and Fraud
Christine O’Donnell made waves last week when she defeated nine-term Congressman, and former Delaware governor Mike Castle for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. We all know that her win when was due in large part to the Tea-party movement, and the out sized influence and power they now have in the Republican Party. Just as voters in Delaware had the right to vote for O’Donnell, people also have the right to know the real Christine O’Donnell. I intend to highlight some of the more controversial issues that you will hear more about as the election heats up.
Christine O’Donnell has been running for the Senate since 2006. Until now, all her other quests for office were unsuccessful. One should be able to run for office as often as they choose, but if their personal finances are a disaster, they have much more important priorities to deal with besides elected office. O’Donnell defaulted on her mortgage in 2008, and her mortgage company actually sued her, and won a $90,000 judgement. The IRS filed a lien in 2010 for $11,000 in unpaid taxes. And this year during her primary, she paid half of her rent with campaign funds, because she claimed to be using part of the residence as a campaign headquarters. Because of this, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington(CREW) has filed a complaints with the U.S. Attorneys office in Delaware and the FEC. Many of these revelations are due in no small part to former campaign aide David Keegan stepping forward. He alleges that:
– In 2009, O’Donnell paid her landlord two months worth of rent out of campaign funds
– O’Donnell also used funds for meals, gas, and bowling outings.
Crew Executive Director Melanie Sloan has come out aggressively against the fraud that is Christine O’Donnell.
Christine O’Donnell is clearly a criminal, and like any crook she should be prosecuted.
These controversies really unnerve voters, and may be a reason that O’Donnell is trailing Democratic candidate Chris Coons right now. The latest Fox News/POR-Rasmussen poll has her down 15 points.
I think that a legitimate problem voters have is that O’Donnell has not had an honest job in years, and has essentially lived off of campaign funds since 2006. Melanie Sloan definitely wins the “quote of the week” award for her tough critiques of O’Donnell.
If you need money to pay the rent and eat, you get a job; you dont start a Senate campaign so unsuspecting donors can support you.
We will see how this election shakes out. I predict that O’Donnell will go down in flames, as she should. The Republicans could have picked up Joe Bidens Senate seat had they simply stuck with the stronger horse in the race(Mike Castle). Even Republican strategist Karl Rove admitted that the O’Donnell pick will more than likely cost them a Senate seat they could have easily won.
There will more to come from me regarding Christine “the CROOK” O’Donnell.
